WE Day & WE Day Family

Founded by brothers Craig and Marc Kielberger, WE Day is the manifestation of the WE Movement; a full-day celebration of young volunteers coming together, filling stadiums around the globe to experience the greatest classroom in the world. The big 2016-17 Canadian kickoff event takes place October 19th with WE Day Toronto at the Air Canada Centre. This year, WE Day will celebrate ‘WE Are Canada’, WE’s national campaign in partnership with Heritage Canada’s Canada 150. The campaign brings Canadians together with the collective goal of inspiring action and continuing the work towards a more caring and compassionate Canada and world over the next 150 years. Canada 150 is a topical theme for the upcoming year with event professional looking for thought-leadership for their upcoming events. Our annual Engage Speaker Talks series focused on the theme and we have a dedicated subtopic featuring speakers with dedicated Canada 150 presentations. New for 2016-17, the WE Movement is adding WE Day Family, an initiative designed to bring together families and have conversations about social change. Marc Kielburger discussed the event alongside Nelly Furtado on CTV earlier this month. Watch the interview here. Lt. Gen. Roméo Dallaire (Ret.) | Nov. 30 | WE Day Halifax

Once again, the incredible Lt. Gen. Roméo Dallaire will take the stage to encourage the next generation of changemakers at WE Day. He is an inspiring figure who works tirelessly in shaping dialogue within public discourse to create momentum towards tangible solutions on important issues of our time including: mental health & PTSD, conflict resolution, veteran’s affairs, eradicating the use of child soldiers, genocide prevention, and humanitarian intervention. Lt. Gen. Dallaire has been at the forefront of advancing Canada’s role in peacekeeping operations around the world. In August, he joined Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan on a fact-finding tour of East Africa. Last month, he spoke to a Senate Committee about the problems plaguing UN Peacekeeping operations. Lt. Gen. Dallaire encouraged Canada to take up a more prominent role in peacekeeping while stressing the need to act on much-needed reforms. A passionate and moving speaker, Roméo Dallaire inspires audiences to challenge the status quo and take action in shaping a new future.
