Stuart McLean is a best-selling author, award-winning journalist and humourist, and host of CBC Radio’s The Vinyl Cafe.
McLean began his broadcasting career making radio documentaries for CBC Radio's Sunday Morning. In 1979 he won an ACTRA award for Best Radio Documentary for the program's coverage of the Jonestown massacre.
He then spent seven years with CBC's Morningside. His book, The Morningside World of Stuart McLean, was a Canadian bestseller and a finalist in the 1990 City of Toronto Book Awards.
As host of The Vinyl Cafe, McLean shares the misadventures of Dave, the cafe’s owner, and connects with more than 700,000 listeners across Canada each week.
His books Stories from the Vinyl Cafe , Home from the Vinyl Cafe, Vinyl Cafe Unplugged, Vinyl Cafe Diaries and Secrets From the Vinyl Cafe have all been Canadian bestsellers. Both Home from the Vinyl Cafe and Vinyl Cafe Unplugged received the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour.
Since 1998 McLean has taken The Vinyl Cafe to theatres across Canada, playing in both large and small towns from St. John's, Newfoundland to Whitehorse in the Yukon.
