Mentorship: Encouraging our Next Generation of Leaders
How can we encourage young people to develop their abilities and passions? Louise Kent will take a close look at some of the reasons why apathy exists amongst youth and how it creates a generation of youth who feel powerless. With proper support and empowerment, youth can acquire the courage they need to be active global citizens. Louise Kent will highlight the strategies we can use to encourage youth to be the next generation of world leaders by sharing profiles of young leaders around the world who are making big changes in their own communities.
Stand up for Social Change
Youth are becoming saturated with the devastating issues of the world both in their communities and in their schools. When they open a newspaper, they are faced with violence or horrific natural disasters; when watching the news they are told of war, poverty and political corruption. These issues are all too often seen as too big to tackle alone. However, if many people chip in, the world’s problems just may seem a little smaller. But it all starts with one.
It's undeniable that Louise is a storyteller through and through. It comes out in her speeches and the way she fills a room. Since 2004, Louise has told these stories to more than 250,000 people as a speaker and performer with Me to We's international tours. Her lyrics and music light up your ears while her spoken tales of living with communities in need inspire your mind and heart to action. After having travelled to over 25 countries around the world, building schools and volunteering in overcrowded orphanages, Louise has many life altering lessons to share.
