On October 5, 1982, Laurie Skreslet became the first Canadian ever to reach the summit of Mount Everest. He has returned to the site numerous times, to face the challenge again, and to continue to climb in various capacities; from different directions and with alternate equipment.

When Skreslet returned to Canada, he found his experience was relevant for many members of the business community, as he drew parallels between the challenges of the mountain and the challenges faced in the modern business world.
