Summary Profile

Denny Morrison is writing the story of a small town boy who makes good in the big city.

Growing up in Northern British Columbia, he gave the province a recognizable face and a name that everyone got to know in Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

Denny followed his Olympic silver medal performance in Torino with a breakout World Cup season and represents a new generation of emerging stars delivering podium performances in the years leading toward Canada's Games.

Still in his early 20s, Denny firmly established his reputation as one of Canada's bright young speed skating talents with a World Cup overall silver, followed by his first World Championship win in Nagano, Japan and a World Record on home-ice in Calgary in his final race of the 2007-08 season.

Denny competed in 4 events at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. The results were not as good as hoped and expected, but together with Lucas Makowsky and Mathieu Giroux, he won Olympic Gold in the men's Team Pursuit, beating former Olympic Champions Italy in the quarter final in a new Olympic Record. Passed Norway in another Olympic Record in the semi-finals and finally beat Team USA in the final.
