Summary Profile

Deidra Dionne has established herself as a dominant international competitor in Women's Freestyle Aerials.  Since she began competing in 1994, she has racked up a number of national and international accomplishments.  In both 1997 and 1998 Deidra was the Junior National Champion in Aerials and Combined, leading to her assignment to the Canadian Freestyle Ski Team in 1999.

In her first World Cup event in 1999, Deidra won the bronze medal, which seemed to pave the way for the silver medal she won at the next World Cup event in 2000.  Due to her outstanding performance, she was named Federation of International Skiing World Cup Rookie of the Year for 1999-2000.

Deidra made her debut at the World Freestyle Ski Championships in 2001 where she won a  bronze medal.  This achievement proved Deidra's exceptional talents on the international stage, and ultimately led to her success at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, where she brought home the bronze medal.  These placements were recognized by the Province of Alberta, who named her Junior Female Athlete of the Year in 2002.

Already an accomplished athlete, Deidra continued to build on her acclaim by earning another bronze medal at the 2003 World Championships.

While training in Australia for the 05/06 season, Deidra fell and broke her neck in a training jump. It took a seven-hour operation to repair her neck. Three months after surgery and just two months before the Olympics, Deidra was given permission to resume training and against all odds Deidra did compete at the  2006 Winter Olympics.

Now fully recovered, Deidra is back in contention with a 2008 World Cup Silver and ready to compete for the podium in Vancouver 2010.
