Are 20-Somethings Hard To Work With? Nope, It's Just You

May 27, 2010

For the first time ever the veterans, the baby boomers, Gen X & Gen Y are all working together in the workplace and it can be quite an adjustment for each generation. The mixture can cause misunderstandings and conflict seeing as each generation has it’s own values, ideas and styles, but there is a way for everyone to work together (at least in the workplace). Forbes recently featured this subject and turned to Generational Expert Cheryl Cran to help explain it.
“Without self-awareness, you'll naturally be biased against someone who doesn't share your beliefs," says Cheryl Cran. Cran’s launches her newest book and speaking topic this June, on 101 Ways to Make Generations X, Y & Zoomers Happy at Work. Essentially, that means understanding the core values of other generations.

Cheryl CranCheryl Cran is a self confessed positive control freak, "bold" leadership expert, Gen X/Baby Boomer "cusper" with three Gen Y kids and is an internationally renowned professional keynote speaker. Cran has first hand knowledge of the effects of positive control and bold leadership and the perspectives of different generations in the workplace. She continually invests in on-going research on leadership, communication and leading multiple generations as a team.

If you’d like to learn more about each generation’s strengths and weaknesses and to hear Cran’s expert opinion, contact us to bring her to your next event, and/or read the rest of the article here: http://www.forbes.com/2010/05/04/baby-boomers-gen-x-y-workplace-forbes-woman-leadership-management-issues.html
