Maelle Ricker - Gold Medal Olympian Snowboarder, 2010
After suffering a crash resulting in a concussion at the 2006 Olympics, Maelle Ricker returned in 2010, ready to finish the Gold medal quest she started. Coming back from yet another crash in 2010 in her qualifying run, on February 16 this year, Ricker re-focused and thrilled Canadians as she reached the Gold Medal podium at Vancouver 2010 in front of a home crowd in British Columbia!
Kristina Groves - 2010 Olympic Silver Medalist & now a three time Olympic Medalist - First weekend of the Games!
Kristina Groves has one medal so far at these Olympics and she will be racing for more with four more competitions to go! A conscientious athlete and advocate, Kristina Groves speaks passionately about much more than her sport and her Olympic accomplishments.Her diverse range of topics includes teamwork, community, the environment, and her work with Right To Play. Her thoughtful demeanor and humility resonate with corporate and youth audiences alike.
Denny Morrison - Olympic Silver Medalist, World Champion
Still in his early 20s, Denny firmly established his reputation as one of Canada's bright young speed skating talents with a World Cup overall silver, followed by his first World Championship win in Nagano, Japan and a World Record on home-ice in Calgary in his final race of the 2007-08 season. With engaging charm and an easy-going style, Denny welcomes the opportunity to get together with corporate and community audiences to share the challenges and successes of competing for Canada.
Charles Hamelin - Olympic Silver Medalist, World Champion
With 17 individual world cup medals over consecutive seasons and a second World Championship title in three years in the 500m, Charles is a Canadian force on the international short track circuit. Already an Olympic Silver Medalist from the 2006 Torino Games, Charles began speed skating at the age of 10, under the direction of his father and alongside younger brother, François. Both brothers are now members of the National team and are excited to live this experience together while bettering the team's medal count in Vancouver 2010.
François Hamelin - Olympic Short Track Speed Skater
François, who is just 22, has trained with and competed against his older brother and current World Champion, Charles, for the past ten years. Known for his lightning speed and intelligent strategy, François has added considerable depth to the national short track team that looks to better its fourmedal performance from Torino. Hoping to make his first Olympic appearance in Vancouver, he understands the emotion and added motivation that comes with competing against his brother at the Games.
Duff Gibson - Olympic Champion
Duff holds the distinction as the oldest (39) individual sport Winter Olympic Champion in history. His path to Olympic gold reads like a sport sampler beginning with rowing, followed by speed skating, then bobsleigh, and finally skeleton. Duff's engaging speaking style combines years of experience in sport and a great storytelling ability with a focus on the mentors he draws inspiration from. He speaks passionately to corporate and community audiences on themes including perseverance, teamwork and passion.
