Canadians Choose Obama's Inauguration as Top news Story for 2009

There's no doubt that 2009 saw some of the most important news stories of the decade. But when asked to choose, one in three Canadians (31%) felt the Barack Obama swearing in was the biggest story in 2009. Coming in a close second and third was the H1N1 flu pandemic (26%) and the economic recession (22%). The two men behind this Ipsos-Reid poll commissioned by Canwest News Service and Global TV, Darrell Bricker and John Wright, have been researching the minds of Canadians for more than 20 years.
