Terry GouldInvestigative journalist Terry Gould is appearing on CBC's The Hour Murder Without Borders Terry Gouldwith George Stroumboulopoulos to talk about his latest book, Murder Without Borders: Dying for the Story in the World's Most Dangerous Places.

The award-winning Vancouver writer spent four years researching the lives of murdered journalists in Iraq, the Philippines, Russia, Colombia and Bangladesh – the countries in which journalists are most likely to be murdered on the job. He focused on the lives of seven journalists, seeking answers to a question that cut to the core of the victims’ psychologies: Why did they continue to stay on a story even though threatened with certain death?

He searches for the moment in which each of his protagonists understood that theyThe Hour were willing to die, and finds complex reasons for their personal bravery. In his wonderfully vivid portraits of seven courageous souls, he brings their lives and the stories they worked on to light, telling truth to those who would murder truth tellers.

Murder Without Borders is Gould's fourth book. Tune in to CBC's The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos on May 13 at 11 p.m. and watch Gould describe how journalism is an act of courage.
