The National Post recently profiled NSB exclusive Sean Wise as he offered poignant insight to small business owners that "People are central to business success".
Wise knows that to have a high-growth, successful business, one needs "acumen, domain knowledge and operational experience," but these elements pale in comparison to people. He has created a four-step program to help small business owners find the right management teams:
1. Know your own weaknesses
2. Build a board of directors/advisors regardless of the size of the business
3. Find people who are better than you in the areas where you are weakest
4. Undertake the three-part Rabbinic test of partnership: the cup, the sword and the wallet.
He's not just talking the talk when it comes to hiring good management: Sean says he personally bases a whopping 80 percent of his investment decisions on "the quality of management".
