And the Gemini Goes To...

Don Newman, Peter Raymont, Stefan Brogren & Pat Mastroianni involved with Gemini wins! It's that time of year again when Canada's most talented TV creators, producers and performers are honoured with the highest award in Canada's English-language television, the Geminis. The 23rd annual celebration is divided into four separate gala evenings that began on October 20th. We're happy to announce that three NSB speakers have already taken home a Gemini:
 
Peter RaymontPeter Raymont - His drama series, The Border, is now into its second season on CBC and garnered 10 Gemini nominations including Best Dramatic Series, and won Gemini's for: Best Picture Editing in a Dramatic Program or Series and Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series. Raymont is known internationally for his most recent film, A Promise to the Dead: The Exile Journey of Ariel Dorfman.

 
Pat Mastroianni and Stefan BrogrenPat Mastroianni and Stefan Brogren - These two actors captured the hearts and minds of teens growing up in the 1980s on the hit CBC show, Degrassi: Junior High. Years later, the duo are once again winning over television audiences with their reprised roles, Degrassi: The Next Generation, winning them a Gemini for Best Children's or Youth Fiction Program or Series.

 
Don NewmanDon Newman - The host of CBC Newsworld's daily program, Politics, and exclusive NSB speaker was awarded the prestigious Gordon Sinclair Award. The award is named after an outspoken Canadian journalist and honours those who have made a significant contribution to Canadian journalism. Newman has more than 25 years experience as a reporter covering some of the most influential stories of our time.
 
The final Gemini Awards Gala will be held on November 28, 2008.
